My husband and I are planing a self organised tour. Starting in Beijing x 3 days Forbidden City. Bullet train to Xian x 2 days Terracotta Army , Muslim quarter. Fly Xian to Chengdu arrive about 6pm. Leave next day for Guilin. Can we leave early see pandas and then get bullet train to Leshan Buddha all in one full day?
Yes, this is fast. Hopefully your 3 days in Beijing are 3 full days. For the airline , it does not matter. Just go with the cheapest that fits your schedule. There should be a bullet train by that time next year. We will hire a private driver to take us to villages. We will have to stay in registered hotels I think. We had hped to drive until we found we couldn't! This area is not an easy place to travel. Even with fluent Mandarin, we found it to be a challenge.
Having a driver is the only way that makes sense. In terms of place to stay, I was asking because these places are not very close to each other. There is no hotel in Langde. There are places to stay but they may not be up to your standards and nobody speaks English there. It is a very small village.
So the driver will travel with you and you pay for his hotel? If I were you, I would choose fly from Chengdu to Guiyang , and then use local driver to Kaili and villages. I would also suggest to make the itinerary as following in Guizhou:. Arrive in Guiyang and use local driver to Kaili. Visit some minority villages around,overnight in Kaili. Then visit Jidao village and Lanhua village and then visit Langde Miao and overnight in a local guesthouse.
Then next day take Leigong Mountain road to Rongjiang and visit some villages on the way. Then spend one day to visit Tang'an village and Jitang village.
